Window 7 64 bit question. Can my notebook support?

I would like to know that if my notebook can be upgraded or fully install to window 7 ultimate.
I read that it's unadvised that 32 bit OS be upgraded to 64 bit OS. Is that true?
Cause I would like to get Widow 7 Ultimate to replace my current Window Vista.
    My notebook specification:

    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor P8400 (2.26 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 3MB L2 cache)
    Memory: 2GB DDR3
System type: 32-bit OS (window vista)
    Geforce G105M 512MB

Can I upgrade it to window 7 ultimate 64 bit based on my specification? Thank you.

For 64 bit support there are specific 64 bit hardware support. It will require application written for 64 bits in order to benefit from increased performance or even 32-bit applications you will notice a difference. In short, is there a difference between 32 and 64-bit application. If you go for your hardware configuration then you will find that your system does not support that. It can only be possible via Virtualization.

Your CPU, Intel P8400 is a 64 bit processor, DDR 3 and the graphics will all support WIN 7 64 bit. So yeah it will do fine. The only problem I see is that you will need to do a fresh install of Win 7. Your Vista is a 32 bit program and to upgrade Win 7 will only allow you to use the 32 bit Win 7. So if you want the 64 bit version you must do a fresh install with Win 7 64 OS.

So, Nickomono, in short, fresh installation is meaning that I reformat my notebook and install a whole new OS right?
But Deep123 said my hardware is not suitable?
Which one should I listen to?

    Hi Wiz,

Actually, your hardware is suitable to support a 64 bit Operating System without any problems. And even if you install 32 bit application on the 64 bit Operating System, it will be supported because 64 bit OS are backward compatible. But, as nickomono said, you will need to fresh install the Windows 7 OS on your rig, no virtualization needed incase if you want to dual boot.
