How To Fix 'osloader.ntd error' in XP Service Pack 3 Update?

I am having the problem while updating the Windows XP Service Pack 3. When I am trying to install SP3 on a computer running Windows XP Boot Camp 3.0 (which is included with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard), the following Copy Error dialog box is displayed : An error occurred occurred while copying files osloader.ntd. Unable to copy the file to the destination directory. Click Retry to retry the transaction or Cancel. Please help me to fix this issue.!!

The solution is to temporarily rename (time update) file :
    C: \ Windows \ system32 \ drivers \ AppleMNT.sys (eg AppleMNT.sys.bak)
This file can go read the documentation available on the Mac partition, Windows is trying to modify file during the installation you have to disable access. After this you must restart the Mac. Install Service Pack 3. Rename the file again AppleMNT.sys with his original name and restart one last time.

The message that you have mentioned appears when your Windows is attempting to write the first partition that is to install the update. When you are using the Boot Camp 3.0, the first partition found is that of Mac OS X, which is mounted as read-only. This is the only reason why you are getting an error.!! The first thing is to finish installing the XP Service Pack 3 without damage the Windows installation.

This issue can also be solved by installing the hotfix. To install the hotfix, follow these steps that are given below :
    1. First you will have to double-click the hotfix package installer.
    2. The file that you have mentioned Osloader.ntd is extracted to a temporary folder which is in the root folder% SystemDrive%.
    3. Then you will have to locate the following folder in Windows Explorer :
      % SYSTEMDRIVE% \ Program Files \ Microsoft ADS \ tftproot \ nbs \ boot \ x86
    4. Rename the file NTLDR in Ntldrold which will be present in the folder x86.
    5. Copy the file Osloader.ntd from the temporary folder in the folder% SystemDrive% \ Program Files \ Microsoft ADS \ tftproot \ nbs \ boot \ x86.
    6. Rename the NTLDR file in Osloader.ntd.
    7. Restart the ADS.

I would like to suggest you to reapply Service Pack 3 :
    1. To ensure that you can not see the OS X partition, click Start and My Computer. There should appear between the Macintosh HD hard drives.
    2. Click Start, click Windows Update.
    3. Reinstall Service Pack 3. The installation should continue normally.
    4. At the end of the service pack installation, a window appears. Click Close.

Try Back to activate the reading in the file system of Mac OS X :
    1. Click Start and My Computer.
    2. Double-click BOOTCAMP ( C: ), double-click Windows, double-click System 32 and double click on drivers.
    3. Locate the file you changed your name and call back AppleMNT.
    4. Click Start, click Shut Down.
    5. Click Restart to restart Windows XP.

Do not let the computer restart in the middle of this step. Click Restart Later if a restart dialog box.

Re: How To Fix 'osloader.ntd error' in XP Service Pack 3 Update?

If you try installing Windows XP Service Pack 3 on a Bootcamp partition you may find an error dialog related osloader.ntd file that tells you something like "An error occurred while copying the file osloader.ntd. Not Yet able to copy the file to the destination directory. Click retry to retry or cancel the operation. This dialog box appears because Windows tries to write to pla first partition that is to install the update. Under Bootcamp 3.0, the first partition you see is the Mac OS X that is m ontada as read-only ... thus, refuses to install and this is the reason that the copy does not take place. To avoid this dialog box, follow a series of steps to turn off read-only file system for Mac OS X to Windows XP updater see the Windows partition as the first and so you can install Service Pack 3.
    1. First, complete the installation of Service Pack
    2. Leaving the Update Installer Service Pack 3 Click Cancel to exit the dialog box that reports the error.
    3. Appears a new error dialog box indicating that the syntax of the file, directory or volume is incorrect. Click OK.
    4. There will be a new dialog box indicating that the installation of the update is not complete. Click OK to reverse changes made by Service Pack 3.
    5. Windows will now set back to the previous situation oeprativo system prior to the application of Service Pack.
    6. If an error occurs in the deletion, click Cancel. If you request to continue the upgrade without copying a file, say no.
