The partition in the Windows system settings page file, the file size set by the decision of your system. The setting is as follows: Open "My Computer" and "Properties" settings window, switch to "Advanced" tab, in the "Startup and Recovery" window "Write debugging information" section, if you used the " No ", the paging file size is set to 2MB or so, if we adopt the" core memory storage "and"Total memory storage", Will set the value of the page file too large a number, with the physical memory is almost on it.

General windows XP by default is to use the remaining space on C drive to do the virtual memory, and therefore, C drive free space the larger the better operation of the system, virtual memory is with your use of dynamically changing, This dish is easy to generate C disk fragmentation affect system speed, it is best to virtual memory settings in the other partition, such as the D disk.

You need to Right-point "My Computer", left point "Properties", click "Advanced" tab, click "Properties" in the "Settings" button, then select "Advanced" tab, point following the "Change" button, the pop-up window is the virtual memory settings window, generally the default virtual memory is a section of small to large range, which is changing the virtual memory size range, the best to give it a fixed value, so that the disk is not prone to debris, and the specific value according to your physical memory size, generally for the physical memory of the 1.5 to 2 times, such as memory for the 256M, you should set the 256 * 1.5 = 384M, or simply 512M.

Suppose the memory is 256M, the virtual memory on the D drive, first remove the default, to keep C drive is selected, the radio "No paging file " and then "Settings" button, then C drive side Virtual memory is gone, and then select the D drive, the radio "Custom size", in the following "Initial Size" added the box 512, "max" added the box 1024, and then tap "Set "button to see the D drive there next to" 512-1024 "message, so set a good note, and then all the way to determine, ultimately, the system to restart, restart it and then complete the set.

If your hard disk space is large enough, you can set up their own virtual memory, concrete steps are as follows: Right click "My Computer" < Properties < Advanced < Performance Settings < Advanced < Change < select the virtual memory virtual memory (page file) stored custom size partitions < determine the maximum and minimum settings. In general, the virtual memory to physical memory is 1.5 times larger, too, could, if you do not want to frequent changes in the virtual memory can be set to the same maximum and minimum values.
