Hello, I am not having much idea for that, but if you simply make use of the Perian for your mac then it can simply extend the working of your QuickTime Video support for your iMovie and then you will able to get the solution for your problem. So, simply make use of the Have you tried Perian, it extends quicktimes video support and may help out with iMovie for your mac. So, just make use of that and then try to open that.

Hello, you need to follow the steps below:
    • if you are having iMovie 08 or 09 then you must need to import the footage which will simply convert it to AIC.
    • Then you must need to use the mpegstreamclip and then you can use that use it to transcode into AIC or some other format supported by your version of iMovie.
    • Then you can simply use the volatile HD and it will simply convert that.
    • Then you will able to get the Final cut Express 4 and use it as per your requirement.
