No OS error

ok, so a week ago i tried to compress my hard drive and my getting impatient half way through has resulted in the black screen with "No Opertating system found" that i've read about. Its no longer giving me the BOOTMGR press crlt + Alt + delete option.

before the first black screen, i get a message saying
"system BIOS shadowed
system configuration data updated
ERROR
system configuration data read error

press f1 to resume, f2 to set up"

pressing f1 takes me to the "no OS" screen
pressing F12 brings setup up, but is telling me i have no hard disk drive or DV ROM drive.
Therefore, its not giving me an option to boot from the harddrive and restore my whole laptop

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!

Flash your BIOS with latest update. This may then help you to get the issue to be sorted out. After the Bios is been flashed then install the operating system by formatting the previously installed operating system.
