Re: Enabling AHCI mode AFTER Windows 7 Installation

Enabling AHCI in the BIOS causes Blue Screen of Death with the STOP error 0x7B, on facilities Windows XP where pilots AHCI / RAID chipset are not installed. Skip to AHCI requires installing new drivers before changing BIOS settings. Enable AHCI or use a system with AHCI enabled will cause an error in the EPHD, when attempting to exit the Extended Standby Windows OS (Such as Windows XP).

    Please follow below mentioned steps:

    1. Exit all Windows-based programs.
    2. Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
    3. If you receive the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
    4. Locate and then click one of the following registry subkeys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\IastorV
    5. In the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.
    6. In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
    7. On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.

Re: Enabling AHCI mode AFTER Windows 7 Installation

As per my information when you try to enable AHCI in the BIOS on systems using Windows XP or Vista operating system lead to the disappearance of optical disc drives SATA. A fix is already available Vista. The optical disk drives SATA are not available after you start a computer Vista. Due to a problem of hardware design, AHCI controllers do not work on HBAs AMD / ATI RS400-200 RS480 when the option MSI is activated.

Re: Enabling AHCI mode AFTER Windows 7 Installation

The AHCI is supported natively by Microsoft Vista, Microsoft Windows 7 and Linux from kernel 2.6.19. The OS require older drivers, developed by the manufacturer of the HBA to support AHCI. Enable AHCI or use a system with AHCI enabled will cause an error in the EPHD (Encryption Plus Hard Drive from PC Guardian), when attempting to exit the Extended Standby OS Windows (Such as Windows XP). The main consequence of this problem is that it can not be solved without a complete re-installation of operating system.
