I want to deploy my operating system by using the MDT. I am working on the Windows XP, so I want to deploy the Windows XP. I have tried many different things to do but was not successful. Maybe because I am not having much knowledge about deploying. So please provide an information about deploying Windows XP using MDT 2010. Use MDT2010 to reduce deployment time, standardize and improve configuration management and security configuration. MDT (Microsoft Deployment Toolkit) is a solution accelerator by Microsoft to facilitate and automate your deployments of workstations and Windows servers. This tool is truly rich, free, and is capable of tapping the bricks existing Microsoft deployment environment. This approach is known as picture quality and is a recommended procedure because, over time, it is easier to create and maintain. This guide does not describe how to create customized images that contain applications, device drivers and updates by using MDT 2010.

Automated Installation Kit Windows. The file is called KB3AIK_EN.iso. You must save this file to a DVD. In Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, click the right mouse button on KB3AIK_EN.iso, click Open With, and then Recorder Windows disk images. Follow the instructions to save the file. Iso on a DVD. In previous versions of Windows, you should use DVD burning software of third parties. As with all Microsoft deployment, MDT requires the WAIK (Windows Automated Installation Kit) or the OPK (OEM Pre-Install Kit) for OEMs. The WAIK is a set of tools and materials dedicated to the deployment of Windows operating system.

MDT 2010 also requires the command line interface for Windows PowerShell :
    1. If you install MDT 2010 on computers running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows PowerShell is already installed, so you do not have to do anything else.
    2. If you install MDT 2010 on computers running Windows Vista with SP1 or Service Pack 2 (SP2), download and install the 32 bit or 64-bits. The installation of Windows PowerShell as an optional upgrade to Windows Update is easier to download and install manually from the Microsoft Download Center.
    3. If you are running Windows Server 2008 with SP1 or SP2, you must add the Windows PowerShell feature.
    4. The installation of MDT 2010 on computers running Windows XP is not supported, however, MDT 2010 can update computers running Windows XP with a new installation of Windows 7.

Application source files. You need the source files for each application you want to add to the deployment share and install during the deployment. You can copy these files directly from the CD or DVD from the application or from a local or network folder. You will also need the command to silently install each application. (In this guide recommends automating the installation). In most cases, software vendors documenting how to install applications silently. It takes the source files of all the device drivers to add to the installation share. You can download device drivers from the website of each provider of computer hardware. Once you download the device driver, be sure to unzip it. For example, if a device driver download as a. Zip, extract the file. If you download the driver as. Exe file compressed, run the file to extract the source files of the device driver. If you can not extract the source files of the device driver, you must install the device driver as an application.
