File Transfer Speeds in Hyper-V Machine

    Hello everybody,
I have created an iscsi target on the machine that is having hyper-v with the Windows 2008 Enterprise. This machine is in a failover cluster which consists of two Acer's running Windows 2008 R2. I am facing some issues of the speed while transferring the files in Hyper-V Machine. So please tell me some information about the File Transfer Speeds in Hyper-V Machine. Hope that someone would help me soon.!!

With the growing adoption of virtual technologies, the challenges and complexity associated with protection intensified. NetBackup simplifies data protection for virtual servers by standardizing backup Hyper-V and VMware, accelerating the backup of virtual environments by the incremental backup and duplication block level, finally, an effective restoration, including individual files.

In Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) 2008 if you migrate a running virtual machine, VMM puts the virtual machine in a saved state during migration. You can migrate a virtual machine between hosts that use the same virtualization software from a host or Virtual Server to Hyper-V host. You can also migrate files from a virtual machine to a different location on the same host.

In VMM 2008 R2, for a cluster of Windows Server 2008 hosts, you can migrate a running virtual machine between two hosts in the cluster with minimal service interruption for the virtual machine. This is known as rapid migration. For a cluster of hosts Windows Server 2008 R2, you can migrate a running virtual machine between two hosts in the cluster with minimal service interruption to the virtual machine. This is known as live migration. For a host of Windows Server 2008 R2 or a host with VMotion storage capacity, you can migrate and store files in a virtual machine running on a different storage location on the same host without any service interruption or a disruption of service minimal.

Re: File Transfer Speeds in Hyper-V Machine

For communication with the VMM agents on servers in the library, VMM uses WS-Management (WSMan) through port 80 for controls. For authentication and encryption using Kerberos. A library server must be in an Active Directory domain that has a two-way trust with the VMM server's domain. Transfers files to ESX Server hosts in a VMware environment given some ports and protocols require different to those used by VMM for file transfers to hosts of Hyper-V or Virtual Server.

Re: File Transfer Speeds in Hyper-V Machine

For transfers of files between a server library and a host of Hyper-V or Virtual Server, VMM uses the BITS 2.5 protocol through the default port 433. The port number must not exceed 32768. Encryption is done using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Authentication is based on a URL randomly generated VMM passes the server when the configuration of the communication. The URL includes a session key that is transferred in encrypted form using WSMan.
