    Virtual Server on Hyper-V

    Hi everyone,
I want to know that does the system virtualization is based on a hypervisor 64-bit version of Windows Server 2008.??? I am not having good knowledge about the Hyper-V. So I thought to ask you about it. Please provide some information about the Virtual Server on Hyper-V. Hoping that someone would provide me useful information as early as possible.!!

    Re: Virtual Server on Hyper-V

The virtualization of servers based on Hyper-V has been incorporated from the start in the operating system Windows Server 2008. The Windows Server 2008 R2 introduces a new version of Hyper-V. Together, these two technologies can easily realize the savings promised by virtualization. The following are some advantages of it :
    • Improves availability for virtualized data centers through improvements such as the migration dynamics.
    • Facilitates the administration of virtualized data centers with PowerShell and System Center. Increases performance and operates best materials for building virtual systems that support up to 64 logical processors and processor compatibility mode. Improves network performance through new virtual network technologies.
    • Simplifies deployment of physical and virtual systems by a new method of using files. Vhd.

Hyper-V, which is codenamed Viridian, is known as Windows Server Virtualization. It is a system virtualization based on a hypervisor 64-bit version of Windows Server 2008. Hyper-V is also available as a free agent offers the functionality of Windows Server 2008. This version will be marketed under the name of Microsoft Hyper-V Server. The Release Candidate of Windows Server 2008 included a beta version of Hyper-V. Hyper-V uses the concept of partitions to isolate virtual machines . A partition is a logical unit of isolation, supported by the hypervisor, which runs an operating system. The instance of the hypervisor requires the presence of at least one parent partition that is running Windows Server 2008. The virtualization layer runs in the parent partition and has direct access to hardware devices. The parent partition creates child partitions then run in which the operating systems.

    Re: Virtual Server on Hyper-V

A virtual partition does not have access to the microprocessor . In fact it has a virtual view of the microprocessor and running in the Guest Virtual Address, which depending on the configuration of the hypervisor may or may not be the entire virtual address space. A hypervisor can choose to expose only a subset of processors to each partition. The hypervisor intercepts interrupts the processor and redirects the respective partitions using the logic Synthetic Interrupt Controller (SynIC).

Hyper-V is a Role in Windows Server 2008 That Provides you with the tools and services you can use to create a virtualized server computing environment. This type of environment is useful because you can create and manage virtual machines, which allows you to run multiple operating systems on one physical computer and isolate the operating systems from each other.

    Re: Virtual Server on Hyper-V

Hyper-V requires Hyper-V x64-based processor year, hardware-assisted virtualization, and hardware data execution prevention (DEP). Hyper-V is available in x64-based versions of Windows Server 2008-specifically, the x64-based versions of Windows Server 2008 Standard, Windows Server 2008 Enterprise, and Windows Server 2008 Datacenter. To create and set up a virtual machine :
    1. Open Hyper-V Manager. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and Then click Hyper-V Manager.
    2. From the Action pane, click New, and Then click Virtual Machine.
    3. From the New Virtual Machine Wizard, click Next.
    4. On the Specify Name and Location page, specify What You Want To name the virtual machine and WHERE you want to store it.
    5. On the Memory page, specify enough memory to run the guest operating system you want to use it the virtual machine.
    6. On the Networking page, connect the network to adapt an existing virtual network if you want to Establish network connectivity at this point.
    7. On the Connect Virtual Hard Disk page, specify a name, location, and size to create a virtual hard disk so you can install operating system on it annually.
    8. On the Installation Options page, choose the method you want to use to install the operating system.
    9. Click Finish.
