Hey as per my information you have to use Mac4Lin for your Fedora12 to change the login screen. The goal of this project is to bring the Mac OS X user interface to POSIX Operating Systems (GNU/LInux, FreeBSD, openSolaris etc.). The project is built for desktop environments based on GTK. You have to just install it to give interesting look for your Fedora12. You can get this product from the official site of Fedora12.

Re: How to change the login screen in Fedora12?

I used following simple solution to change the login screen in Fedora12. I think you also use this to get rid out of this problem.
First you have to removed GDM from your computer and then you have to install KDM in your computer. To do this use following command.
    Code:
    yum erase gdm
After this your KDM become the default login manager. Now using KDM you can customize your login screen by making some changes in System settings.
