    Debian - Error in local settings

    Hello,
    I installed a debian on my pc and I regularly receive an error message on the local setting, especially when I do a apt-*:
    Here is the error message I get
    Code:
    perl: warning: Setting local failed.
    perl: warning: Please check that your local settings:
    LANGUAGE = (unset)
    LC_ALL = (unset)
    LANG = "en_US.UTF-8"
    are supported and installed on your system.
    perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ( "C").
    Do you guys know how to fix the problem, if yes then please let me know. Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
    Unfortunately there is a bug in the local package, in fact it does not configure the first time. That's why you get this error message on the screen.
    To resolve this problem:
    As root, you take the following command:
    Code:
    dpkg-reconfigure locales
    Hope this solution will help you and you will not receive this message again.

    Re: Debian - Error in local settings

    Hello,
    I do not know that this is the bug of the operating system of debian, but even I get the same error and do not know what to do and how to fix it. Well I have a problem for me, the first time I do 'dpkg-reconfigure locales' I had a problem. So I apt-get install locales' gave me a lot of stuff, including errors, since I can do 'dpkg-reconfigure locales', but I always get errors while doing it.

    Hello,
    I think you should try and update your kernel and see if the error is still there. A few days ago I was getting the following message.
    Here's the error I when I do a svn:
    Code:
    svn: error: can not set LC_CTYPE local
    svn: error: environment variable LANG is en_US.UTF-8
    If you are getting the same kind of error message then I recommend you to updated the kernel and then try to issue the command in the terminal. Though I am not sure that this is the exact problem for that, but I it worked for me.

    Hello,
    I think you should look to configure your debian operating system.
    Code:
    dpkg-reconfigure locales
    dpkg-reconfigure console-data
    This is the build for it
    Code:
    1) lang @ ISO-8859-15
    2) en_US iso-8859-1
    3) en_US UTF8

    Hello,
    I agree with the above post and would like to add some words here
    In the file / etc / environment (possibly create, this is an option step but you can configure it as you need ), helpful at times
    Code:
    LANGUAGE = en
    LC_ALL = county @ continent
    LANG = county @ continent
    Hope this will help you and the error message will be terminal ed from your computer. I think the Debian is the best operating system I have seen every.
