Problem in setting Administrator account password in windows 7

Hello everybody I recently bought a new dell computer system with windows 7 installed as Operating system on it. Formerly i have used the windows XP and managed the user accounts as well without any sort of problem. But the windows 7 is creating a problem for me , The Windows 7 does not allows me to set the password for the administrator account please suggest me a solution to achieve it thanks in advance

I think you have missed it while you were installing the Operating system so just follow the steps mentioned below:

1.Go to the control panel
2.select Administrative Tools
3.after that Computer Management
4.Local users and groups> users > Administrator
5. In that select General
In that check which of the options are already checked and post it in your further replies

But the steps you suggested could not help me i even have not understood what you were trying to explain me but somehow i managed to reach up to what you have specified but i could not find something helpful in Local Users and Groups window. Please help me

According to me this can not be regarded as a problem because in windows 7,The built-in Administrator account is an account that has full access and permission on the computer. By default the built in administrator is disabled. So you just have to enable that built in administrator and reset a password for its security.

This account is disabled by default in windows 7 and hence you cannot use it to change the password. To change the password you will have to enable it that account first. I am listing the some steps below using which you can activate your administrator account.

* Go to the start menu right click on the command prompt.
* Select the "Run as administrator" option.
* This will open up the command prompt
* In the command prompt type in "net user administrator /active:yes" without the double quotes.
* wait for "The command completed successfully" message
* After disabling the administrator you can change the administrator like did in windows XP.

In the Windows 7 the administrator account is automatically created while installing the Operating system. But by default it is disabled for some security reason. If you want to create a password for this user account firstly you would have to disable it using the steps which i have mentioned below:
1. Firstly, Open the Local Users and Groups manager.
2. Click on the Users folder in the left pane.
3. Now, right click on the administrator and select properties.
4. Uncheck the Account is disabled box.
5. Click OK

and the account is enabled and now you can set the password for the administrator account.
