Improve MAC OS X speed on laptop

I need some tips and tricks to increase the speed of MAC operating system. In my laptop this works very slow and sometime I had also seen the SAD MAC face. After a force reboot it goes again. What are the things necessary to do in order to improve the speed of a MAC computer. Please mention the same in details. I do not want to re-install the entire thing back again.

To improve the speed of the Mac OS X. If you want to improve the speed of the computer which you are having, without buying the new computer the one best way is that you have to increase the RAM of your computer. This will help you a little better if you are using the the same system which you have with you, the computer has to use Virtual memory.

The main thing you have to see that Ram you are having can you afford it. The 256MB of ram will be only required by the Despite OS X. Now a days the Apple had started to have the 512MB of Ram in every computer. If you are not having the 512MB, then you have to see if your computer can use it for the Mac. You can use it but you have to see the load of your computer can take.

To now that you will be needed more Ram then you have to follow this step. If your computer is on, then you restart the computer as you now that it will take some time to start. Do not play any game in between. After that you open the activity monitor. At the bottom of your computer tab click on the system memory. the number is of the page outs. If the use is more then 3500 then you can use the additional RAM.

You do not try to overboard with the dashboard widgets. If you are using or working your computer with the tiger or any other of the above with the Mac OS X 10.4 then you can try the dashboard. If you are having more of the widgets on your dashboard. Then you have to be aware that you can use the more memory. Which may be written in the web based language.

This may be not as efficient like that of the traditional languages. If you want to see this then you can see by opening the activity monitor and can see all the details of the widget. If you are having the sufficient Ram then there will be no much problem in it. If you use this it will improve your system performance. For the best you can also visit the web site for the information.
