    Unable to install windows 7, invalid product key

    Hi,

    After formatting my hard drive (I am still in windows 7 RC yet), it appears that the installation (installation personalize, no upgrade) does not work. Simply not blocked at the activation key. Indeed, the key that was provided to me during the purchase of windows 7 does not work, and is considered invalid by the installer. Is there any solution for invalid product key?

    The product key is for an upgrade version of Windows 7 and an earlier version of Windows was not on the computer when you installed Windows 7. To install an upgrade version of Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP must be installed on your computer. If you formatted the disk before starting the installation process, you can not use the upgrade product key to activate Windows 7. To activate Windows 7, you must install the older version of Windows, and then reinstall Windows 7.

    I recommend you install Windows 7 in the current version of Windows running. To format the hard disk, and you are using an upgrade version of Windows 7, will have to start the computer with a DVD update for Windows 7, click Custom (advanced), and then click Options unit (Advanced).

    You should know that installing a Windows 7 update on a clean machine of any OS is possible except that you can not activate Windows (not an old license XP or Vista). Just follow these steps:

    * Install Windows 7 on the machine
    * Cut the internet connection and prevent any update from Windows Update
    * Go to the registry: Start -> Run -> regedit
    * Go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Setup/OOBE/
    * Skip MediaBootInstall 1 to 0
    * Close regedit
    * Make "Start" and type cmd to see the icon to the MSDOS command prompt. Right click it and choose "Run as administrator" (or something like that)
    * In the MSDOS command prompt, type: "slmgr/rearm" then make entry
    * Reboot and when Windows 7 is loaded, run the activation program. Enter your product key and activate Windows ...

    To check your product key, locate the product key label on the computer or inside the Windows package or in an email confirmation if you purchased and downloaded online from Windows 7.

    If you still can not find your product key, you may have to buy a new one to activate Windows. You can buy an extra copy of the same edition of Windows 7, which contains a product key that you can use.

    You can activate online or by phone. To activate online, you need an Internet connection. Phone Activation requires interaction with an automated phone system. You can find the product key on the computer or inside the Windows package or in an email confirmation if you purchased and downloaded online Windows 7. Open Windows Activation, click the Start button Picture of Start button, Computer, click Properties and then click Click here to activate Windows now. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
