It is a problem of memory buffer while burning or more of hard disk access. The backup is incomplete and produces an error. I have had a similar problem, I try again. Which backup tool you are using? Are you making clone of your partition? I'll suggest to use pre-installed windows 7 backup and restore program, hence it works fine for me every time. To setup a backup in windows 7 right click on system drive and go to tools tab and choose the option backup and in backup and restore window choose setup backup and go through the rest of the backup wizard.

Close all other applications while making a backup hence it increases a cpu and ram usage. If you still facing the same issue then i'll suggest you to grab some third part backup tool, like EASEUS Backup Freeware is one of the best for backup, and its works very well with windows 7. There is one more effective backup tool Handy Backup .

Are you making backup direct on external hard disk? It will be better abd easy if you copy the bakup later on your external hdd after making it on local drives. The problem can be happen if your external hd malfunctions in between your backup going on, and this can be result it system crash. Is it happens every time or just happens once? close your all running applications and then try it out.

Try out the following steps before making a backup:

First look for the following folders in you system drive:

    C:\Windows Update Setup Files
    C:\Windows\Windows Update Setup Files

If you found the baove folders then delete them, now Delete Temporary Internet Files and Disable Antivirus and any other programs ,Close your other running programs. Make sure you are not running an ad-blocker program. Now start the backup. Good luck.
