Install Mandriva and ubuntu

Hi guys,
I have a simple question, can I install two version of linux on the same machine with a dual boot, that is mandriva and ubuntu on the same machine? is this possible? if so how does that happen? I am very new to linux, some of my friends have dual booted their system with different linux distro's, But I do not know how they have done it, some explanation would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes you can. It's not too complicated. Just partition your disk so that it can accommodate 2 OS, install the first, then the second. The challenge is to configure your bootloader, grub or something which you have.

For information, you may even have a triple boot like Linux / Windows / Mac OS Afterwards, your limit is the number of primary partition but it is above 4 systems so it does not concern you.

Yes you can do this, but I think you should be aware of how to partition the system. It would be better if you partition the system manually, by this you have a choice to allocate space to the specific system.

Yes there is no problem, I have debian fedora and mandriva. There is no partition wizard, simply does not advance you install the 1, leaving the space empty for the second and then you install the second in empty space in such way you have no risk of crashing 1.
Then you reboot the 1, and edit the file

/ boot / grub / menu.lst
title mandriva 2009
root (hdxx, x1) x is the number of disk 1 only if x1 = 0 the number or install grub
configfile / boot / grub / menu.lst
