How to create restart shortcut in vista?

    Hello,

I am going through a problem which is not that big but still it sucks my brain. It is regarding the shortcut of the restart. I want to create a shortcut of the windows restart option because i am tired of going to the start and then to the arrow which will display the activity and then to the restart which is a long procedure, so i want to create a shortcut of the same by which i can access the same from the desktop. So please help me.

    Thanks in advance

Just follow the the steps involving the creation of the shortcut of the restart on the desktop and enable you to use this frequently whenever it is necessary.

    1. Right click on desktop.
    2. Jump to New and then to the Shortcut.
    3. A window will appear type shutdown.exe -r -t 0
    4. Hit the Next.
    5. Write the name which you want to give
    6. Exit with the finish.
    7. Now Right click on the which i have created recently and then to the Properties.
    8. You can Click on the Change Icon to make a new icon.

Now you can access the restart whenever it is necessary.

The above post will help you to create the shortcut of the restart and with that you can easily access the functioning of the restart so make that to work but one more which is not mention in the above post is that you can also set a time limit before the restart. For that you have make little change in the "shutdown.exe -r -t 0". Can you see the Zero (0) at the end of the command this will give you the immediate restart but if you change it to the 15 then it will wait for the 15 minutes and then restart the system.

    Thats it!!!!!!!!

You can also create the shortcut of the shutdown lock down stand by and other in the same as you have created the shortcut of the restart. All you have to do is just the change the format of the syntax which you are entering in the window which is appearing after clicking on the new and then to the shortcut. For the different task enter the different syntax as given below.

    Shutdown : Shutdown.exe -s -t 00
    Restart hutdown.exe -r -t 00
    Abort :shutdown.exe -a
    Lock Computer: %windir%\system32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation
