Whenever you move mouse cursor over any folder in windows explrer, it highlights or selects the full row. This behavior is different than the previous Windows versions. In In Windows Vista and 7 it only happen when you are using "Details" view in Explorer. In pre-Vista Operating Systems, to deselect all files in a folder, you could simply click on a blank area on the folder.

To disable full-row select in Explorer first go to start and then select run > type regedit and search for the key :HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\Shell and delete "Bags" key under it. Then find out this key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ Explorer\Streams And delete "Defaults" key under it.In Windows 7 or Vista explorer, when you select the Details, all the columns, for that row, are active for file selection.

In a 'Details' view in Explorer, all the columns are active for file selection. Under XP only the 'Name' column was. In a large folder with many columns displayed, it can be difficult to right-click on the folder background. To Disable Full Row Select -Downlaod ClearFullRowSelect.zip Extract the VBS file to the desktop. Double click on the VBS file (on desktop).
