Unable to open AsIo.sys in Windows 7

    Hi

I just installed Windows 7 Home Edition (the original version). After opening the "Administrator" account, The following error message pops out "Can't open AsIO.sys !! (2)". I did not have this problem with Windows 7 RC and I dont have the problem on the "User" account. Any suggestions?

From the error it seems that the problem is lying with the Asus AI Manager program and asio.sys which may be installed by that program or some another ASUS program.

Is there any Asus AI Manager program installed ?

    If yes, try uninstalling it.

If your Operating System is of 64-bit there is a process called aaCenter. The location of this process is in C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\AASP\....... There you will find the folders named 1.00.32, 1.00.33, or 1.00.54, or so.

Before deleting the folder you should stop the process aaCenter from the Task Manager.(To open Task Manager click Ctrl+Alt+Del)

After you stop the process you go to the folder listed above and delete the most recent folder present in there (mine was 1.00.33) Will be good to go on next reboot.

To get the message to stop popping up go to start->run->msconfig. Go to the startup tab, and uncheck AsIO.sys. AsIO.sys!!(2) doesn't open , this is caused by the ASUS motherboard utilities. You need to uninstall the software such as aaCenter and PC Probe. OR In Windows 7 the issue may be caused by EPU-6 Engine. Uninstalling that software will resolve the error.
