Windows Preview thumbnails are gone.
You can give a manual thumbnail to a folder in Windows XP. This feature will let you see the image which you have chosen by right-click on folder > Customize. Then browse a picture and select it. When you view the root folder, the image which you selected will be shown for the folder in thumbnail view. Is this what you are looking for? Hope this helps...
Windows XP does not support thumbnail preview of MP3, about which you are talking. This feature was introduced in Windows Vista and is also available in Windows 7. I don't think this can be achieved in Windows XP my any means. There may be some third-party software which may let you do this. But i am not sure. I may be wrong...
Switch to Ubuntu Linux. It will let you preview the MP3 by playing the MP3 song when you just mouse over an MP3 file and the file plays as long as the mouse stays over the MP3. Hope this helps...
As of now, it isn't possible i guess. I've also tried that a couple of times on our windows Xp desktop
