Downgrading from vista to xp

ive been using my studio 15 with xp on it for a few weeks now, and found that i had a vista disc and decided to install, with upcoming windows 7 release and all. After 'upgrading' i found that vista did not support 80% of the drivers i had, and immediately started looking for a way out. Since i have a full backup of my C drive using acronis i figured that if i restored everything would go back to normal, but this is not the case. Acronis will start the restore, reset and then take over the startup, trying to restore the drive, after a few moments it will boot using windows vista once again.

any thoughts?

everything i have tried from that forum post does not work. ill boot using the windows repair disc and it will automatically restart before i can even tell it to repair.

where did you backup your c drive on cd disk or another hard disk partition?? i have never tried acronis but problem is may be due to windows version so that might required bootable disk from windows vista platform it is not possible. else format c and install windows xp then try to install backup
