Windows 95 has an uninstall feature that you can use to restore the previous version of Windows and MS-DOS on your computer. You can use this feature only if upgrading an earlier version of Windows to Windows 95, and you chose to save the file system during the upgrade.

When you choose to save the system files, the original Windows folder and all files and folders are stored in a hidden file, compressed. The location of this file is specified in the "UninstallDir =" line in the file Msdos.sys.

To uninstall Windows 95, follow these steps:
    1. In Control Panel, double-click Add / Remove Programs.
    2. On the Install / Uninstall tab, click Windows 95 in the list of programs, then click Add / Remove.
    3. In the dialog box that appears, click Yes.
    4. Click Yes to delete the long file name support and check the hard drive.
    5. Click OK to shut down Windows 95 and continue.
    6. Remove the floppy disk drives, and then press ENTER to continue.

If you want to uninstall the system from the command line DOS, boot your machine using the boot floppy created during installation of Windows 95.

Then type the following command: a: \ uninstall

If you can not run Windows 95 and you do not have a boot disk, boot your machine with your first floppy MS-DOS and type the following command:

    c:\windows\command\uninstall

We start by assuming that you have installed Windows 95 on the C:drive in the Windows directory.
