Cannot install VMware Workstation on Ubuntu 9.04

I cannot install VMware Workstation on Ubuntu 9.04. I upgraded Ubuntu 8.10 to Ubuntu 9.04 and now VMware doesn't install. I have a debain package file and when i when i install it from terminal it says to agree to EULA and after i agree it, it starts copying and configuring some files and then it just hangs there for every. I don't know what is the problem, Can anyone help me?

You upgraded your ubuntu from 8.10 to 9.04. After that did you try to update ubuntu? Is there any pending update? I mean if you canceled some on going update? May be, that can interrupt any softwares that you try to install. See if you get this same kind of problem with any other software installation.

No, i'm not getting this kind of problem with any other software just with vmware. What do i need to check now? Can anyone help me with a solution? I tried to copy this file again from my back up dvd but still the same problem. Can any one suggest any other ways of getting vmware running on my PC? Please help...

The problem is you are not getting any error. In such case, it is really hard to pin point the problem. I think the best solution for this problem would be to get the latest vmware and try to install it. Hope this would fix the problem... All the best!
