Hello , Try to start your PC in safe mode: start, you can open a safemode menu with options to boot (usually by pressing the F key). In this menu, select "Start Windows in Safe Mode." option Windows should then start with only essential files . and then it safe mode try scanning your computer for any problem

Repair XP can be useful when a file is corrupted or missing or when your system is unstable, first set the Default boot device to cdrom , and boot your computer from the cdrom , Windows XP will starts the installation. ,then Click Install Windows , The installer searches your operating system and ask you at this point, if you want to install a new version of Windows XP or Repair an existing installation by pressing the R key. Choose r for Repair. then repairing for Windows XP will starts.

Note : Repair of Windows XP will retain all your settings and documents. It just simply puts all the original files from XP cd to your computer

Boot to recovery console and When you got the prompt C:\Windows>type bootcfg /rebuild, and then press ENTER.

This command scans the hard disks of the computer for installations of Windows XP, Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows NT, then displays the results. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to add the Windows installations to the Boot.ini file.

For example, follow these steps to add a Windows XP installation to the Boot.ini file:

    a. When a message like this appears, press Y:

Number of identified Windows installs: 1
    [1] C: \ Windows
Add installation to the list of boot options? (Yes / No / All)
