Xvid format on mac

Hello,

I have an Intel iMac and I want to know how to play Xvid videos in QuickTime format, is it possible. It should be able to read this. I think so but I never tried. I already searched Google but the proposed solutions do not work. So if someone already tried, then please share it with me.

Install Perian 1.1 a QuickTime plug-in that reads the main video and audio formats. Perian offers for its support of multiple formats including DivX ,naturally supported by the official codec, but also Xvid and FLV, used by most community video sites YouTube, Dailymotion etc. It also allow you to read the wmv file format in quicktime but it is slow at startup.

You said that it does play WMV but in it is slow at startup. I have some WMV video files but i cant play this files using Quick time player or any other media player, I had already installed Perian 1.1 a QuickTime plug-in but no result with WMV files.

Microsoft recently abandoned development of the Mac version of its Windows Media Player. Fortunately, this decision comes the free Flip4Mac WMV, which allows just read Windows Media files via QuickTime Player. Flip4Mac WMV can use Quicktime player. The software was crashing regularly with Quicktime 7.0.4 but this problem seems to have been resolved. The latest version supports WMV 9 in profile "Advanced".
