external hard drive compatible with windows me

I was going to buy a new external hard drive and was wondering if I can connect it to Windows ME. I have tried my usb drives by connecting it in Windows ME and it usually works but if it supports external hdd I am in doubt. So can anyone confirm whether external hard drive is compatible with windows me or not? Or should I have to upgrade to some other operating system? Thank you

Take a look at this external hard drive sold from eaby which comes with drivers:

It has limited disk space so you can consider getting same type of drive with some more diskspace. Hope that helps.

There is some proper wiring things to be done first, usb to a case, and inside an IDE drive? Wondering if you have USB / Firewire setup properly, and if inside, if it is an IDE drive, did you change the jumper to make it MASTER?
