Try to search in windows folder located in C:\Windows. This folder contents all the system files and run all the application. Don't delete or corrupt any files in this folder. All the files are required for the smooth functioning of the system.

You will get boot.ini in the root of your active partition. In c:\boot.ini. It is hidden so you need to Uncheck "Hide Protected Operating System Files". Also try this: Click Start -> Run -> c:\boot.ini
