Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Systems Management Server Installer version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
The command line used for uninstallation from the Add/Remove Programs icon in Control Panel is stored in the registry at:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\<Appname>
I am also facing same problem. when i opened the folder where the program was installed (%programfiles%\<program name>) and found the INSTALL.LOG file intact. I was able to open it and read all the contents, which looked OK. I tried to launch the uninstaller directly, but was greeted with the same error.
- Open the directory where the program is installed.
- Now you will see a file named “Install.log” in there.
- move this file to the desktop ( “install.log” to say desktop)
- Double click the uninstaller (uninstall.exe or unwise.exe)
- It will ask you to open the installation log. Locate to the “install.log” file on your desktop.
- Now you can can uninstall the application.
