When you use the Windows Recovery Console, you can obtain limited access to the NTFS file system, FAT, and FAT32 volumes without starting the Windows graphical user interface (GUI). In the System recovery for Windows xp home edition, you can perform the following actions:
    • Use, copy, rename, or replace operating system files and folders
    • Enable or disable service or device startup the next time that you start your computer
    • Repair the file system boot sector or the master boot record (MBR)
    • Create and format partitions on drives.

Windows XP's Automated System Recovery (ASR) is an extension to the conventional backup-and-restore. Insert the Windows XP CD into the CD-Rom drive. and hard boot the computer. it will show the message "Press any key to boot from CD." Press any key. Press F6 to load RAID or SCSI drivers. At the bottom of the blue screen, a message says, "Press F2 to run the Automated System Recovery process." press F2.Another screen will appear, instructing you to insert the ASR floppy disk. Insert the disk and then press Enter.
