It is basically because it typically check out for Non-VolatileRAM been used on your system in order to store the BIOS code itself, as well as your BIOS settings. Checking NVRAM generally consists of running a checksum on the NVRAM contents to determine if the contents have changed.

Basically its for the machine in order to maintain its settings and time on the battery whether it works fine. In order stop my computer checking NVRAM everytime, you need to go to the BIOS settings and disable the extended memory tests.

Checking nvram means that it is typically detecting the IDE hard disks on your system. Even more typically, this happens when you knocked an IDE cable partially off when working on a particular machine.
