Try Manual Update Procure Using intelligent Updates

    • Go to the updates page for new virus definitions.
    • Do one of the following depending on the version of your Norton product:

      • For Norton 2008 products: Click the first file in the list under Filename. The file name starts with the year and ends with v5i32.exe. e.g. 20070828-017-v5i32.exe
      • For other Norton products: Click the second file in the list under Filename. The file name starts with the year and ends with i32.exe. e.g. 20070828-017-i32.exe

    • Save the file to the Windows desktop.
    • On the desktop, double-click the file that you saved.

This Problem is also Caused by Floppy Drive Scan , To disable the floppy drive scan through the client user interface
    • Start Symantec AntiVirus.
    • Click Configure > File System Auto-Protect..
    • Click Advanced.
    • Under Additional Advanced Options, click Floppies.
    • Uncheck Do not check floppies upon system shutdown.
    • Click OK and then click OK again.
