System restore on compaq v5210us

I have a compaq v5210us , which i got from a friend it is 5 months old . Last five days this pc is creating big issue : this is da@ slow , I cant go to higher screen resolution stuck with 14 color mode and many more .

Now i would like to restore this thing to the way it was from purchase . How can i do ? do i need some software ? Will this cost me ?

There will be a recovery partition in your hard drive. If you got that file burn it to DVDs or CDs . after doing that reformat your computer to clean all the junk . now you can install your operating system from the recovery DVD/CD that you burnt.
