    Slow copy in windows vista

    Hi,
I am running windows vista on my desktop. Whenever i try to copy, delete, move, etc. any file, it takes ages for the function. It is very slow as compared to windows XP. Anyone know how can i speed it up?

    All suggestions are welcome.

Try Disabling Remote Differential Compression to speed up the all functions:
    • Go to Control Panel
    • Programs and Features
    • Turn Windows Features on or off
    • Untick Remote Differential Compresstion

If you are trying to copy or move files on network. Go to Microsoft article on The copy process may stop responding when you try to copy files from a server on a network to a Windows Vista-based computer. Use the Robocopy utility that is included with Windows Vista to copy the files. For example, type the following command at a command prompt, and then press ENTER:
    Robocopy source_path destination_path file_name
For more information about how to use Robocopy, type Robocopy /? at a command prompt, and then press ENTER.
