No option for PPPoE internet in Ubuntu 8.10 Satanic Edition

I had Ubuntu 8.10 and was very happy with it untill i came across this topic : Ubuntu Satanic Edition - Linux for the Damned!. This seemed interesting to me so i thought of giving it a try. After i installed it i found that it was just the Ubuntu 8.10 with the Satanic themes compiled together with some Rock music in it. But there are a lot of softwares missing. So i tried to connect to the internet via my broadband connection. But i couldn't find the option to create a DSL connection as in Ubuntu 8.10. Can anyone help me setup the PPPoE connection? Other then this i have no problems with this creepy edition.

As you said there are a number of softwares missing, did you see if PPPoE is installed or not? Go to synaptic package manager and search "PPP" how many applications do you see? Install all the PPP software that the Package manager has to offer. Ubuntu SE CD will have those package on it already. Do post back.

These softwares are already installed. Actually these are application libraries according to me and must work from Terminal. Open Terminal and type
    Code:
    pppoeconf
Now it will detect your LAN card. Follow the semi-GUI screen and it will guide you to create a new connection. If in the wizard you are not sure about any settings go with the recommended option. Now once the wizard finishes, you will return to Terminal. There type
    Code:
    pon
and wait for 3 to 5 seconds. Now browse the internet! To disconnect from the internet, open terminal again and type
    Code:
    poff
To check the status and log of the connection type
    Code:
    plog
    in the terminal.
