The wait for Windows 7 RC Remote Server Administration Tools is over. Microsoft has released and made it available for download on their Official site www.microsoft.com. RSAT is useful for Windows 7 RC, Windows Server 2008 R2 RC and Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 to allow IT administrators to manage roles and features that are installed on remote computers that are running Windows Server 2008 R2 from a remote computer that is running Windows 7 RC.
RSAT Client is available to all customers as part of the supplemental Microsoft Software License Terms to Windows 7 licenses. It includes support for remote management of computers that are running either the Server Core or full installation options of Windows Server 2008 R2, and for some roles and features, Windows Server 2008.Microsoft provides some caveats in its release notes for RSAT. Earlier versions of the tools including the Administration Tools Pack for Windows Server 2003 and 2000 and RSAT for Vista should be uninstalled before installing this one.
IT pros should install just one copy of RSAT per computer, Microsoft warns.Windows 7 RAST downloads are provided for 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. Previous versions have to be uninstalled before the new version can be installed. You must be either a member of the Administrators group on the computer on which you want to install the Administration Tools pack, or you must be logged on to the computer by using the built-in Administrator account. The Redmond company has tweaked the tools to scenarios in which remote management is performed on 64-bit copies of Windows Server 2008 R2, be they the full installation or just the Server Core.
