Windows Setup No Fixed Disk Drives

    hi,
When i install windows xp sp3 I get the following error: Setup did not find any hard disk drives Make sure the disks are on the correct way on the computer and the hardware configuration of the disks correctly.

I am now back to my HDD (SATAII) And that I need a driver to install. The HDD is connected to a power and sata cable connected to my motherboard in sata1. The bios is the HDD not found. The ATA controller on IDE (which you can also choose RAID or AHCI).

I hope I have enough info and that someone knows an answer.

It sounds like you have a hard drive controller that Windows has no drivers for. These days, it's usually a SATA controller, but it might also be a RAID setup or an obscure product. Also, make sure you press F6 when prompted during the Windows XP setup.

Open the case and unplug and reseat the cables that connect the hard drive to the motherboard. Also, make sure the drive is jumpered correctly. Then start the computer, go into the BIOS setup and make sure the drive is properly configured. Use autodetect if available and be sure to save the new settings. If this doesn't help, most hard drive manufacturers have diagnostic software available for download.

Have you gone in to the bios setup menu and changed your boot order to:

    CDRom - 1st
    Floppy - 2nd (if any)
Hard Drive - 3rd (boot drive)

Then, in the same boot area, make sure the Hard Drive Priority (or worded similarly) has the drive you want to boot from as FIRST in that list.
