    What is agrsmmsg.exe

What is Agrsmmsg.exe. I just opened the Task Manager and noticed this in there. Usually, I use Task Manager for many purposes and therefore I am much familiar with what is there in Task Manager. But suddenly this thing appearing in my PC and its eating some of the CPU memory. I tried to find some information on this from MS but nothing discriptive given about what this Agrsmmsg actually does. So just wanted to know if it is harmful for the PC.

    Re: What is agrsmmsg.exe

Agrsmmsg.exe is a process that is used by AMR (audio-modem riser) modems. The file is installed as the default on your PC and is more commonly found on laptop and notebook computers. Your computer uses this file to communicate with the internal modem.

The file is located in the Windows folder (C:\Windows) or at times in the System32 folder (C:\Windows\System32) of your system. Although this process is not essential for your operating system, you must not terminate it until you suspect that it is causing problems on your system.

The actual hard drive folder is also listed below, always verify where its located on your hard drive, as this makes sure it is not spyware, adware, or virus related and simply placed elsewhere on your computer, and using the same name in an attempt to fool you. This AGRSMMSG.exe program software is associated with device drivers, and its purpose is to adjust settings for modems and other devices. This is normally installed with Softmodem assistant. Re: What is agrsmmsg.exe

Most of the reported problems related to Agrsmmsg are caused by virus or spyware infections. Malicious viruses, spyware and other harmful files may disguise themselves as Agrsmmsg and infect your system. Any malware can be named anything - so you should check where the files of the running processes are located on your disk. If a "non-Microsoft" .exe file is located in the C:\Windows or C:\Windows\System32 folder, then there is a high risk for a virus, spyware, trojan or worm infection!
