Maybe the topic seem exceeds but I do not have a solution after days of research and testing.
Here's the problem:
I have a setup with a new ASUS P5QL motherboard, SATA disk and a Q6600. If I install Linux on hdd all goes well. But if I want to install XP then problems start.
First, if I leave Linux on the hdd, the installation CD of Windows XP does not start. The system asks me if I want to boot from the CD and I said yes ... Black screen.
Then if I delete the linux, the installation CD wants to get started without issue. But then problem because it does not see hdd. Can you tell me why this happens?
Yes that is why I made a XP disk from my original CD that includes SP3. This version is supposed to recognize SATA drives but does not help.
So another solution can be put drivers on a floppy and F6 to the CD that comes read additional drivers. Yes it should still have the drivers ....
I have a CD that came with the motherboard but nothing resembling a drivers for XP. On the ASUS site nothing and no clear link to download the SATA drivers for XP
Then relief may be that this community can give me the solution or trails to explore.
