If Windows 7 follows Vista's memory limits, then Windows 7, 64-bit will support from 1GB to 128+ GB.
Vista editions were as shown below, but W7 has different editions.
- Vista Basic 64-bit: 8 GB
- Vista Home Premium 64-bit: 16 GB
- Vista Business/Enterprise/Ultimate 64-bit: 128+ GB
While the system requirements for 64-bit versions of Vista lists 1 GB of RAM as minimum, 4 GB is recommended. This is where I begin to get a little concerned since the recommended requirements are actually starting to exceed the maximum amount of RAM recognized in previous Windows versions. Even though most of these previous versions were 32-bit, this is still a big jump.
In the past, the trend has always been that each successive Windows OS required larger and larger amounts of system resources. Thus, Microsoft’s claim that Windows 7 is going to buck that trend is giving people some high hopes. At this point, while Windows 7 is still in pre-beta, there is still some debate surrounding the question of whether or not the operating system will be able to live up to these promises. We’ll keep watching, though, with our fingers crossed.
32bit: 4gb some of which is reserved for system overhead.
64bit windows 7 will likely follow the vista specs, home basic: 8gb, home premium: 16gb, professional: ??? and enterprise/ultimate: 128+gb
is a reasonable guess.
Windows 7 for 64 bit computer need a ram of 4 gb + , to run smoothly .
In case anyone wants to know Windows 7 x64 Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate support up to 192 GB of RAM. Home Premium supports up to 16 GB.

Every single response was wrong, but they were only guessing in 2008. That's why I had to post.

yes window seven support more than 4 GB RAM, but thats also depend on you processor. More ever 4 GB RAM is more than enough.
1 GB RAM is sufficiant, no need for 4 GB.
so no matter what type of processor i have i can run my memory (RAM) up to 16 gigs no problem?as long as i have the right mhz of corse.
Windows 7 64 bit OS need minimum of 4 GB RAM or more.
