Re: Unable to configure broadband on kubuntu 8.10

    hey!
I've hear that a lot in past few weeks... it seems to be a common issue with KDE4.2. Ok try this :

Open Konsole [terminal] and type in the following code :

    Code:
    pppoe-discovery -i eth0
It should detect your ISP and then configuration would be pretty easy...!
    All the best...!

    Hey Solo,
Thanks but it didn't work for me! Any other solution?
Would be greatfull... I used to setup my broadband connection from network manager in ubuntu simply by right-click and edit network connections. then clicking on DSL and adding a new connection, but kubuntu doesnt show me the DSL tab when i click on edit connections...
    This is killing me...! Help!

Re: Unable to configure broadband on kubuntu 8.10

    Hey again!
It seems that your ISP doesn't send the response for discovery request...! Bad ISP anyways... Try this out :

    Code:
    adsl-setup
This shell script will open "etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ppp0" file for you to configure. Fill in the necessary details like username, password, service name and connection name, leave the not required field as it is. now start the connection. to do so type in the following command :

    Code:
    adsl-start

Note : use 'sudo' command wherever it asks for administrators right required or something similar...

    All the best!
