Windows needs the first partition. It is strongly advised to put windows in the first partition (/dev/hda1) otherwise you will have many headaches of doing hide and unhide of partitions during grub configuration. If you have linux on first partition then you have to move it. Golden rule: Put windows in first partition and Linux can run easily off any other partition.
if you want to run both O/S (Linux and Windows)at the same time on one computer then you will need to install one of the operating systems. once you are in one of these OS's you need to install a virtual machine which acts as a another computer running inside another. you can then install your desired operating system inside this virtual machine.
