XP DVD Drive cant read DVD's why?

Hello,
I want to know why my DVD drive cant read DVD's & dont know why this is happening?
Well it reads the CD's but not DVD this is the problem Please tell me what could be the reason.

Well can you tell us about your DVD drive?
Is it installed properly?
A suggestion:- Try to install drivers all over again & see if it works?
One more thing you can use your friends DVD drive & see if it works or not.

Well this is a common problem with old drives.
It cant read the DVD drive.

You can also go to device manager & check if it's in any error state or not.
Run devmgmt.msc
