    unable to start printer spool

I followed the directions given to start print spooler , and typed
    net start spooler

    Got the error message:
"System error 1068 has occurred. The dependency service or group failed to start."

I also get this error message when trying to start the printer spool from the services program under administrative tools. Not sure what I can do to fix this.

Hmm. The only service that the Print Spooler is normally dependent on is the RPC service. Is the RPC service is not working, you would most likely have other problems, but check in the Services MMC to see if the RPC service is "Started".In the Services MMC, right click on Print Spooler, select Properties. Whatdo you see in the two boxes on that page (may take a second or two to populate).

Lexmark likes to install a service that makes the spooler dependent on itself and their service gets stuck in a number of cases - then the spooler doesn't start anymore. To remove the dependency, type sc config spooler depends= RPCSS (note the space after the = but not before). In most cases the Lexmark driver then crashes the spooler. To fix, removethe Lexmark driver by hacking the registry (there is an article in MSDN explaining how to do that - I currently can't look it up).

Just try these steps and the issue is bound to vanish

    1. Click the Start button on the desktop
    2. Click Run
    3. Type in REGEDIT
    4. Click on HKEY_LOCAL _MACHINE
    5. Click on System
    6. Click on Current Control Set
    7. Click on Services
    8. Click on Spooler
    9. Click on Depend On Service on the right hand side
    10. This should open a Edit Binary Value window
    11. Delete the rows corresponding to LexBces only and then select OK
    12. Reboot the PC

Proceed further and the error should not occur again Do respond as to what was the outcome

I followed your instructions on editing the Registry and that solved my error 1068 problem. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and understanding.
