Wubi - The new software for windows, actually is the whole operating system.
It installs on windows as a normal windows software. It asks for the partition to which ubuntu has to be installed, then the amout of disk u can spare for ubuntu. It doesn't require to split up or format the partition for its file system. provide it with the username, password, partition on which u need to install it & amount of space you can dedicate to ubuntu. thats it! it does not even change the boot loader to grub. it just changes the boot.ini file of windows xp with some new information for the booting of ubuntu with the windows boot loader as default.

yeah. i've installed Wubi on my computer from windows XP. this is an innovative step from Ubuntu linux. now the windows user need not worry much about linux and can get their hands on it!
