Images not opening in Vista

HI,
i bought a new laptop,running vista via flash drive. but there is problem it cant open images the message shows "The file format is not supported, or you don't have the latest updates to Photo Gallery" which are taken from another laptopthat runs windows xp.
I hope someone can help me..

i think there has been corruption when some of the files have been copied.
Have you tried opening them in Internet Explorer?

use a recovery program on the laptop, providing you hav'n't defragmented the drive the pictures were on there is a good chance you can recover them from where they originally.

try this:
click Start > Default Programs > click 'Set Default Program'
program as default' > you can default settings if you wish by clicking
'choose defaults for this prgram' and check specific formats you would like
to see open directly in Windows Photo Gallery. i hope problem will solve.
