Windows Vista is sticking with iTunes

I wonder if Windows users view when that happens open the iTunes this simply means that the computer stops working, I happened twice and it is a PC with an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz plus 2gb ram . The most amusing part is that when I want to see photos in the photo gallery windows of the same thing happens to me.
And that to me missing 170 Gb to fill the hard disk.
