Problem With Download From Vista Error Code 646

I was having problems loading a security update for Microsoft Works 9. It did not download and I keep receiving a 646 error. It would not load no matter what I did. Finally, I turned off both the firewall and the user account control. Both can be accessed through the Control Panel. After I did this, viola, it finally loaded. Remember to turn both of them back on after you try this.

Your problem seems to odd and so the only thing that comes to my mind is reinstall Microsoft Works 9. Go to Add/Remove Programs and remove it from there. Now reinstall it with the help of Works 9 CD. This problem occurs if certain NVIDIA shell extensions are running.

An excellent solution I have come across is to turn the 'User account' off, restart, then download the updates, then turn the 'user account' back on.the latter is easy as you will be prompted to doit in the deskbar.
