    Recovery of files on Mac

    Hello all,

Well, I have a Mac for 4 months, I use an external hard drive to store and save all my data.

Everything worked very well until today.

I connected this afternoon, has turned my DD, and a strange noise occurred, a small resort, I panic while disconnected (with ejection etc, all well as it should). Then I restarted the machine, and now impossible for the computer to read my SD.

There seems to be a big concern or I urgently need to recover my files ... I know there are PC software to recover data on damaged DD but on a Mac is this possible? And if so, what software is the most efficient and least risky?

Thank you in advance for your answers, I hope to find a solution because the contents of the disc me at the highest point, both professionally and personally.

    Good day

It seems that this is a hardware problem. The external HD have a separate power supply? If so, it may have slammed (by exmple is the great specialty of LaCie, I have two in this case). If the external HD is no longer under warranty, the simplest is to open it to extract the disc (two pins out) and install it in another box external (USB or Fire wire) or a USB adapter / IDE (Pixmania and eBay among others) or a stand (Macway). It may be that it goes up, it was for my two discs.

Otherwise, recovery software FileSalvage ago (the demo shows the files regained) or DataRescue. But we should not be too many illusions, files obtained lose their name, and also their integrity if they are too big.

My DD is a block Iomega with cord ... If it is here that you speak (sorry I do not really master the technical language ^ ^).

But the fact that the disc itself has produced chelous noises, it does not mean he died? I have a friend who had the same problem on PC and he managed to recover 90% of its data. What is important above all, they are my music files, because outside appearance "leisure" I need in my everyday life for my "pro" and so on. These are not large files, but they are mostly very many ... Then came the reports, written records etc ...

With regard to open SD, I really do not know how to do it aps and I fear not make good manipulations ...

I will try your software, thank you for your answer in any case, if you have other ideas please

It is difficult to know if the ear within DD is dead.
Have you tried to mount it on another Mac? Unlikely, but you never know.

In principle, external HD are not difficult to open, especially the recent (Macway also offers the kit to avoid the tax, just a Phillips).

I bought on eBay a machine that works perfectly (it even boot on a Mac Intel) and also by connecting a external recorder.

    Hi,
As repair tools, I know Techtool of Micromat micromat.com provided including Xserve. This is the toolbox to do everything to Diagnostic and repair (if possible) Macs. Price varies depending on the options selected.
