How to kill a process in XP?

Can anyone help me write an XP dos command to kill a running process? In the old days I used to be able to use the "kill" command, but it is no longer available in a command window in XP. The reason I want this is to kill a process which continues to get hung during startup. It isn't my PC and I don't want to risk uninstalling/reinstalling the application.

As for killing a process why dont you just open task manager (ALT + CTRL + DEL), click on the process tab, find the process you would like to remove from the run queue, then press end process... Its a far easier way then typing into cmd prompt, especially for beginners.
