The first beta of the GNU / Linux Fedora 10, code-named Cambridge, is available now. In line with many other distributions which are preparing to release a major version, it relies on the kernel in 2.6.27 version (still in development) and graphical environments KDE 4.1.1 and Gnome 2.23 (Version 2.24 is Yet recently exit).
A new connection manager appeared, it simply can share an Internet connection (wired, wireless and even 3G) through a wireless network ad-hoc. The operator of printing, support for webcams and remote infrared have also been improved. The new 4.6 version of the RPM package manager, inherited from RedHat Fedora which is the free community version, makes its debut on such distribution. Finally, the ext4 file system is supported.
Fedora Cambridge should succeed Sulfur November 25 2008, with a week of delays due to piracy of certain packages on Red Hat servers. Meanwhile, more details on this first beta can be found on the official notes. Downloading a LiveCD, which gives an idea without installation binding, may already be done from our software.
